Parents Priorites......

Shopping couple allegedly leave kids alone in cart

The Associated Press

COMMERCE, Ga. - A Georgia couple got so carried away with snagging Black Friday deals that authorities said they left their kids alone in a shopping cart. Banks County Sheriff Charles Chapman told WSB radio that a 35-year-old man and and 31-year-old woman were charged with reckless conduct.

Chapman said the two left their 9-year-old and 9-month-old children in a shopping cart at the Banks Crossing Walmart so they could go shopping.

Chapman said he figured the couple thought the kids would slow them down. The children were not harmed.

How times have changed........ however there are a couple of way of looking at this....

On one hand I can see the invasive tentacle of government and the child protective police squad.....lurking anywhere to find parents to blame for anything even slightly suspect. Like slapping the butt of the brat.....Off to jail!...

On the other hand, when I was growing up parents would let kids play and do stuff unsupervised because there were not kid snatchers.....

And, on the other side, leaving two kids in a shopping cart, based on today's standards...is kind of weird, if not negligent especially if they were not within eyesight.

But that's my twisted opinion.....
